When I lived there, the best second hand clothing store (it was big and reasonably priced) was Jet Rag on La Brea Ave. It probably is still there. When you are driving south from Hollywood Blvd on La Brea, Jet Rag is a couple of blocks before you come to the Melrose intersection. There was also Yellowstone on La Brea Ave, right at the Melrose intersection, not far from Jet Rag. Then when you get to Melrose, turn right. There are a few stores on Melrose Ave. including Wasteland.

I'm sure I found one somewhere in Hollywood called "Out Of The Closet". Unless I dreamt it and those silver platforms magically appeared in my house overnight.

ah that's right, i forgot about that. i've found a few really great things there including a vintage suitcase and a worktable on wheels. there are several all over the city, but the ones that come to mind are on sunset a block or two east of vine (hollywood), santa monica blvd and sawtelle (west L.A.), and one on santa monica blvd near laurel i think? (west hollywood) and i'm sure there is one in venice near the other aardvark's that sara mentioned.

there are a couple of stores on fairfax avenue between melrose and beverly blvd.
