has anyone ever been? what is it like?

i am thinking about doing a little travelling this year and a girl i just met said she was going to thailand for a month and basically told me to tag along if i wanted. as i just met the girl, i obviously have to be prepared to see the sights/explore on my own as she seems a bit flakey and i don't want to be a hanger on all the time.

i haven't been abroad in years and this would be my first time on my own, do you think it would be too much for a first time traveller?
