| | | London, 21 April? I will be in London next week, and have a totally blank slate on Saturday evening. Any good bands playing I should check out? Other thoughts?
Thanks... or should I say "ta"? |

| | | It depends on what you're looking for.
Camden is always lively of a weekend with pubs such as World's End and Dublin Castle being where the cool kids go.
If you want to go a bit more central give Borderline on Charing Cross road a go. I'm not sure what bands they have playing, but they have live music every night and an indie disco afterwards. Be warned though, it is sweaty. No windows, no air conditioning, nothing. |

| | | Thanks! I am "looking for" options. I am into many things, so any ideas are appreciated. I am staying in Central London. Lacking any other ideas, I guess I would be interested in stuff that qualifies as "Cool Britania".
"Indie Disco": what does this mean over there? I would guess they would play stuff like !!! and LCD Soundsystem, but I seem to recall someone saying it means something totally different in the UK. |

| | | Indie disco in UK is different depending where you go, to be honest. Borderline is like Pixies, Razorlight, Smiths, Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, Blur, Pulp, Kooks (ergh), Kasabian, The Gossip...etc.
Seeing as you're a visitor I'd highly recommend you check out Camden. It's full of weird and wonderful people (nutters) as well as your standard indie kids. The World's End pub is fucking massive and pumps out heavy metal, which you don't mind so much even if you don't like metal because the atmosphere is quite nice. Oh, and it can be an excellent place to celebrity spot - if you're not too cool for that. Camden is very, very close to Central London too. Five minutes on Northen Line tube.
There's also Frog on Charing Cross road which is slightly more obscure than Borderline and The Metro on Tottenham Court Road which plays loads of different music from pop to 60's to electro to ska. |

| | I don't mind Heavy Metal, if it's played in an ironic context.
Thanks. I've been listening to Virgin Radio on the 'net, to try and acclimate myself. |
