| | | Flight help please This summer I am going to Greece for 6 weeks.
I'm going to Zakynthos for 43 days from the 7th July.
I've been searching online for a while now trying to get a cheap flight but I'm having a real hard time trying to find anyone that even fly on those particular days! Getting 2 one way tickets isn't an option as I can't afford it.
Whats the best way to get the tickets?
Can I just go into a travel agent and tell them what I need? I don't need a hotel or anything, just a flight.
Or is there a travel company(online?phone?shop?) who can help me?
This is my first time travelling on my own so I want to book the flights within the next week or so so I can plan ahead pn what needs doing.
Thanks

| | | this might sound kind of stupid, but have you tried the expedia/travelocity/hotwire type sites? they always seem to hook me up when i need travel things ('specially when it comes to flight/hotel/rent-a-car deals).
the only thing i really have to say is don't go to a travel agent. coz they lie & they'll rob you retarded.
there's this sxually confused gangsta greek kid at the center i volunteer at. & he's always talking about taking me back to greece to meet his mom. he's pretty intense.
fyi.

| | | I've tried expedia.
What are the other sites? I really don't want to spend more than £260 on a flight.
I mean, I went to greece last year and the flights + 2 weeks self catering was only £300! So i guess its expensive if you just want a flight.
I don't really want to change at Athens because it adds another 5 hours to the journey or just waiting around basically. |

| | Hotwire.com - Discount travel deals. Travel: Airfares, hotels, vacations, cruises, car rentals and more at Travelocity.com Travel, Airfare, Flights, Hotels, Rental Cars, Vacation Packages, Cruises at Priceline Orbitz: Cheap Travel, Flights, Hotels, Vacations, Car Rentals, Cruises
those are the ones i usually stick w/. usually its a tie between orbitz & hotwire. though one time hotwire did book me a room in a "three-star hotel" in lincoln heights los angeles. so not mellow.
but for flights, just check & compare through all of those. you're bound to find something golden.

| | for greece i always use olympic but i dont think that would work out cause their rates shoot up during the summer. but i know that all those web sites have good deals not different from what you'd find frmo a travel agent. if they are different the results from the sites would prob be cheaper.
late post sry i had the window open and didnt submit till like 15 min later l'avatar got it down lol |

I would have to get a flight to Athens then change. I wouldn't mind but it adds so much longer to the Journey and I would rather not have to wait for hours in an airport for a 50 minute flight.
Thanks lav for the links. I will search now. |

| | | If you haven't already found what you're after... Your best (or possibly only) bet for this sort of thing would be charter flights, so you should probably have a poke around on the major travel agents' websites to see who runs them and what kind of price range you're looking at. You'll be lucky if you get anything for the precise dates you're after, tbh, so if you're willing to make a sacrifice on your dates +/- a day or two then you will come across cheaper prices. Otherwise, I suspect the only airline you're likely to get those dates from is Olympic and you'll pay over the odds and have to change at Athens. Bit of a mofo, really.
There's nothing wrong with going in to a travel agent and getting a quote from them. You don't have to be bound to them if their prices/dates don't suit you.
On a separate note, your thread reminded me of a rep you gave me a few weeks ago in the 'boasting' thread and you asked me where in Greece I was going to this summer... Athens.

| | | Thanks for the help everyone.
Basically I changed the date to the 8th and I leave that morning. I can't be arsed with waiting round in airports changing planes so I'm goign from Stansted that day and coming back the day I said.
247QUID! Still. It should be worth it.
I've been reading up on the place. It get the most earthquakes in Europe or something. Exciting! |
