Bodhran

I have just come into possession of one of these (i.e. have requisitioned it from my brother's room) and was wondering if someone could give me some tips on how to go about learning how to play it. How to hold the stick properly, make some ordered noise and so on.

I felt sorry for it, sitting on my brother's shelf in pristine condition like a lamp or a photo frame. Instruments are made to be played!

I just thought; I hope I haven't spelled it wrong in the title. That would be embarassing, sorry if I have.
