| |  Genre Hatred/Music Evolution?
I've been sat making new songs these past few days... and ended up making a dance song. I've always been a total hater of dance music but here i am sat making the shit... I guess i cant really class myself as a total hater of the genre anymore... (tho i do know that i cant stand Hip Hop/Rap.)
Is there any genre in particular that you hate and would never dream of making?
Do you see making music in a genre you dont like as evolution in ones songwriting?

I like a few IDM artists, a few metal bands, but I wouldn't say I was a fan of either genre, because the bands I like from those genres aren't typical of the genre. Most of the conventions of the genre, stuff that you'd find in less experimental artists, annoy me. I'd only say I was a fan of a genre, rather than bands from the genre, if I liked those things.
As for the music you make, that's the same kind of thing. I was in a punk band, but I know most punk music is awful. That's precisely why I was in the punk band - because I wanted punk to be better!  |
