Question Help with jamming on the bass

I have an audition this Tuesday. The problem is it's an original band and so far I have only been in cover bands. I write bass lines for my own songs but coming up with them on the spot from music that I haven't heard before intimidates me. Any suggestions from bassist or musicians in general who are good at jamming?

Okay, you all need to sit in a circle, pass a blunt around, and each read a Dylan Thomas poem. Then get up and play.

Learn the pentatonic minor scale, you can make it fit almost any piece of rock music. For the most basic way to catch what guitarists are doing, just watch for the lowest note they play, and play it.

But if you wanna impress to get the gig, just throw in a few wee show-off tricks. Stuff like a wee 12-fret slide or something.

Also, you could buy an EHX Big Muff distortion, they make the sound massive, but cover up a lot of mistakes
