| | | Writing songs is so HARD One whinge thread, no gherkins, comin' up.
Writing is ridiculously tough. I don't know if it's just me. I tend not to have too much trouble in the lyrics department (I wont say they're good, but they're THERE at least) but trying to put music to that shit is just really hard. And then there are times when I come up with a okay chord sequence and get a great melody going to it. Melody is the only thing that comes fairly naturally to me, if I have some music to guide it, but then I just can't find the words to put to it. And as I say, I can come up with words but trying to give those words a melody is just rough. It's like I've got all the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle but they refuse to fit together. Is anyone else like this? Share your pain, pls.
I know we have a bunch of great songwriters here on KR. Do you guys find the whole thing comes naturally to you, or do you have to really push yourself to find that lyric or that melody or whatever? Do you think you have strong points and weak points in the whole process. I mean, I know overthinking this shit just robs the whole songwriting thing of its natural beauty or whateverthefuck, but maybe I'm not the only one like this?

| | | I'm not sure if I'm one of the great KR songwriters or anything. haha! But I usually write the music before I write the lyrics. It's easier to write lyrics to music than the other way round because the mood of the song has been set by the music then. |

I like to rap as well. I'm always comparing myself to snoop dogg at least in the need to get stoned to rap something.
Latley I havent written anything, its hard to write when you really don have anything to inspire you. I need inspiration. I'm also real picky about lyrics I wont sing anything stupid or nickelback like ryhming. Im very professional about that. | please post some lyrics. please |

i've really learned not to rush or force lyrics because i've seen them get embarrassingly bad.

| | | Usually the lyrics come easily to me, and the music is the hard part.
But a few weeks ago, I wrote and recorded this really amazing guitar part onto my 8-track, and now I can't think of lyrics.
I'm really fucking frustrated about it too. |
