| | I want HONEST feedback on a song On this song: www.myspace.com/knowthetype
Not just the song itself, but the vocals, drums, guitars, bass, production...everything. What would you change? What would you improve? What would you keep the same? Does your booty shake or do you yawn? Constructive criticism, praise, whatever.
I'm not gonna say what I do in the band, because I want ya'll to feel free to say whatever comes to mind. Maybe I'm a drummer, maybe I'm a guitarist, maybe I'm a singer, maybe I'm a producer. Maybe I'm all of the above. Maybe its just my girlfriend's band. Who knows.
Thank you |

Thank you | This was recorded as everyone in the same room "live", wasn't it?
If that's the case then you can't really fault the recording. The mix is balanced, but a little too on the mono side for my liking. Although those right hand side screams are cool. AND when I change the mix to mono they don't disappear from phasing out. So that's a plus.
To me it sounds like a cheap demo. I would know, because this is pretty much the exact thing I give bands when I record them live for cheap.
For next time, try to have the song recorded in a studio or something where you can isolate the drums so that the snare doesn't go nuts when the bass kicks in. Or take the snaps off momentarily. Only cuz I HATE that sound.
The song is pretty boring, in my opinion. But I wasn't really listening to it that much, just the production. I think it was only 3 chord progressions though. And I wouldn't probably record it in any higher quality.
But you've had 3000 plays, so clearly someone likes it. |

You clearly recorded this through some sort of shitty soundcard coupled with a webmic. Probably just onboard sound, judging by the low volume and high noise ratio. You haven't even boosted the signal or cleaned it up so that people can hear you better. Not that they'd want to.
You need to practice playing guitar to a click track. And you sound like you're singing through your guitar pickups by mistake.
In fact, I'd burn your guitar, take lessons, stop lessons and burn your guitar again. But you can take this, right? Because this is just my opinion, which doesn't actually count for much in this studio forum. |
