| It's a bit of a nightmare believe it or not. There are millions of sites kicking about with schematics for a million and one pedals, so I guess it just boils down to picking what it is you want to have and trying to build it.
First of all, you have to be able to actually solder all the stuff together in the right order, so it helps a lot if you've already got a bit of electronics experience. Then you've gotta make it all fit on a board small enough so that it'll fit in a reasonably-sized box. Then you gotta make sure everything is laid out properly in the box so you have room for input/output jacks, pots and switches.
I tried building a limiter pedal using the circuit board from a Behringer limiter, but using better pots, jacks and switches. seemed like a simple enough task, but I ended up with my control pots constantly touching a capacitor, which really wasn't good, so the whole lot just kinda ended up in the bin! |
