| | | is there a place online I can find actual music sheet tabs? Like as if you bought the book? I want to print out a bunch for my dad, he will be so thrilled to have all these new songs to play instead of the same 10 books he has for the past 20 years. Looking for artist like Jewel, Goo Goo Dolls, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and even Hole (specially the it's all over now baby blue version)

| | | I'm gonna be of no help whatsoever basically, but I don't think there are any handy little resources out there on the web that have a collection of these. I've also tried my damnedest to find them but it's just not happening. You might be lucky enough to find pdfs/scans of random books that individuals have taken it upon themselves to create and put out there, if you look hard enough and maybe trawl through fan sites and stuff, but I doubt there's a handy little collection of them on one particular site like you'd get with user-submitted text tabs. A site like that would get probably get tittyfucked with lawsuits in like 2 seconds flat.
Your best bet is to just buy em, I think. They're always outrageously expensive, though, as I'm sure you know or else you wouldn't be asking. Maybe try picking up some cheap second hand books from ebay or amazon? I reckon you're more likely to find what you're after on those sites than you would be on the web.
It's funny how the internet as a whole has respect for books in general (like only making public domain books available) and yet will illegally chuck up just about any music or film you can think of. I guess it's the whole scanning thing, which you're probably not gonna do out of the kindness of your heart like ripping a cd while you go make a sandwich or some shit. Yeah.

| | | I have to agree. I'm pretty sure you can't find that stuff online. It's copyrighted and they don't let people give it away for free. You used to go to sites like tabcrawler which had tons of tabs, but I heard even those sites aren't allowed to post tabs online anymore. |

| | | You didn't actually specify whether you wanted it to be free, so...
You CAN buy digital sheet music I think, i.e. song by song, e.g. sheetmusicdirect.com. Which is handy. It should be printable, and it's got to be cheaper than buying all the books, scanning the relevant songs and putting them back together again. |

| | The best site for free sheet music is pianofiles.com. Everyone posts a list of what they have, and what they want, and you e-mail each other to get the sheet music. The members are mostly reliable, though some will only send sheets if you have something they want. They also have a Yahoo group, which is handy though you have to put up with a lot of spam.
I have loads of sheets (bought a disk full of them on eBay), if there's anything you want, I can see if I have it |

| | well, i assume you mean for piano.
and there used to be a handful of really kickass sites with free sheet music, but they've all been shut down.
sometimes Pianotabs.net - Piano tabs / notes / chords on how to play pop/rock music on the piano is helpful to me, to figure things out. oftentimes you can fill in the sections around the tab provided (like filling in chords, pedal, etc). and then just write out the sheet music yourself for later.
and also, pianotabs.net sometimes has full sheet music too. maybe only like 1/3rd of the time though. |

| | Wish I had more to contribute but instead this may sound like a vent...I wanted to buy/learn from registered actual "sheet music" but found out that often its all wrong. Some 10 years ago I bought a whole bunch of books that were officially licensed... van halen stuff that I wanted to learn etc... after spending about an hour with these books I realized that they were WAY OFF. Minor chords were written as majors etc...
So I've used online tabs ever since. You can't pay for the "real official" stuff and count on it being the actual music but you can get the real "tabs" for free online...go figure. Guitar instruction at JFRocks.com - Online Guitar Lessons and Guitar Lesson DVDs - with LA based pro guitarist Jeff Fiorentino is a great place to learn the guitar... tons of free video web lessons and he teaches how to embellish from your favorite songs... very cool |
