| | | every other person wants to be in a band or start one here? you know it. but i think people are intimidated by corporate culture, the rules, the 'minimum requirements' -- that cheats the world out of perspectives, great talents sometimes are so repulsed by the corporate world that they go underground. -- under the underground, playing for a few friends... meanwhile the radio is 'craptastic' -- boring, dull, nothing new, corporate, ClearChannel, same old same old... someone come up and say 'i have no idea what this means' -- or better yet, maybe, baby, someone will come and actually UNDERSTAND what i am saying...bands are fun. i am just personally all about PURE indie, not CALLING one's self and one's band indie and having David Geffen's bodyguard hiding in a closet with a briefcase full of hundred dollar bills. carefully, like a carpenter, i will keep on moshing this statement to the forefront, laughing at detractors, and writing songs...

| | | I don't like being in a band. It's a clash of egos. And I am stubborn. If I write the song I don't want it to morph into something else.
Solo is the new black. |

| | | That's me......I write better songs when I have someone there to tell me "this sounds good" or "this sounds like shit." Plus, I don't wanna be one of those artists who has a "band" pre-programmed on their Powerbook, just playing guitar and singing along to it. Too bad having a band is such a hassle. It was easy in High School. Not so much anymore. |

| | it's always sucked. why do you think there are so many flash-in-the-pans? it's easy to have ideas, be inspired. but there are energy vampires waiting in the form of a&r people, industry "reps" who don't make music but are greedy to sign the next big thing...people who go to bars who don't give a shit about bands...and all the envious envious people who are waiting to rip others down instead of ever doing one FUCKING thing themselves...they are what kill scenes, make people give up and become reclusive...
some people get stronger because of it,
but really, listen to the radio. there's no protest music really.
or is there? but anyway...i still love bands. someday someone will reinvent how to do it, learn from the mistakes of the past.
it MIGHT be one of the youtubers, but you know there are like sixty thousand people at youtube, all competing, all eager to 'sell out'...
if the current days produce a billy bragg, an elvis costello, a john lennon, someone with SOMETHING TO SAY they will be a strong person, i hope they have a BAND,
someone who was galvanized by all the grabbing, hating envious vampire claws, and who got stronger, and a bunch of someones... it will always be time for that.
and the Marshall sound. that's just my preference. |

| | | Good eye, you smart cookie, you.
PS - I'm a leftie as well, but I'm afraid I never learned to play the guitar upside-down. I just paid twice as much for a left-handed guitar. |

| | | With an acoustic, yeah, in a shoddy kind of way. But on most electrics, the tuning keys all on one side, and that makes it nearly impossible. |
