| | My husband has boutique custom pedals, specially made. They cost a sickening 300 euros each but well, they sound AWESOME
As I only do accoustic, I can pass on any really specific questions, I dont think there's anything the nerdhead doesnt know. |

| | | Apparently if you know nothing about electronics or not a techinician, its best to leave it well alone and get someone else to do it. Robert Kiely is one such man that will, he has his own page but as I said, pricey. I dont know of any non-pricey customisers but if you find any, good luck! (and tell me!) |

| | | I dont mean to piss on that, you clearly know what your talking about, but it's actually pretty easy to make yr own fuzz boxes and things. You just need some of these things called capacitators, which cost like 5p each, and lots of time and patience. You can probably find some more info on the net if you look around. I dont know a whole lot about it, but it's never seemed that impossible to do.
Also, look into circuit bent electronics.

| | circuit bent whoa???? lol, as I said, not for those without a single iota on electronics. fuzz
Here's a site if you want to build your own Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face, if building from scratch is your thing, but pre-custom ordered and boutique pedals are still the way to go if you are the very specific about what you want. But I guess it aint worth it if you're only mucking around. Just get a multieffects processor (you can get a decent but older model) for 50 pounds where you can combine several effects and make somethign weird. Easiest (and cheap enough) option really. |

| | | apparently just adding a few resistors here and there will do dramatic things, but unless you know exactly how the pedal works in the first place you aint gonna do anything but stop it from working. |

| | Aw Bookstore....I didn't know you were a musician. This world needs more sexy girls who play the guitar.
I have a friend who can sit and ADD out for hours altering old Moog synthesizers and vintage drum machines. Often to the exclusion of all else. It's his thing, but it's all Japanese to me. Here's his myspace if you want to check out some of his stuff. And he loves talking shop if you wanted to contact him. www.myspace.com/carsflowers
EDIT: I just noticed he's taken down most of his songs. I'm not sure why. |

| | | How much do you know about electronic theory and soldering? To build a guitar pedal, or even an amplifier, is not an incredibly difficult thing, but a little knowledge of electronic theory does help.
Like some of the good people who have already posted here said, there are a lot of websites which you can find schematics of pedals that you can build straight off, or modify first and then build.
You need a few other things than just capacitors to build them, like transistors and resistors. Once you know the values of the components you need, try places like maplin.co.uk.
Go ahead and give it a shot, it's not such an expensive thing to try out, and you can find some crazy shit to build! |

| | As a general very rough guide... for the most part, capacitors generally tend to alter frequencies/tones, and resistors alter amplitude-based stuff.
I'm tempted to take apart my old semi-broken big muff and try altering some component values to make it EVEN MORE EVIL but I'm scared I'll break it.
Also, if you want a bit of a laugh... try odd combinations of pedals. You can get some weird ass shit to happen with a wahwah between two bigmuffs. Tres funky. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
