| I think it's because a god that keeps the universe ticking over in a way that is indistinguishable from the way physics is supposed to operate seems a bit pointless. I guess it's because we're tied up in the idea of a vengeful or worshipped god that needs to be appeased, rather than an intelligence that doesn't really care what we do. If god created man by triggering a process of evolution, it's hard to argue that he also created us "in his own image", for example. |
