Greek curses?

What does it mean when there are black crosses with lines of equal length made by candles or something of the like made in the tops of entrances, doors and other varous places? Can someone please answer this for me? Thank you in advance.

This is an easter tradition, where greeks recieve the holy light from the church, bring the candle home burning. With the burning candle they mark things like the celings of the front porch, ontop of doors etc. It not a curse at all.

Luckily my godmother who is greek was in the room when i read this!

lol its not a curse. its tradition. its not only greek either its an eastern orthodox thing. at least i think all eastern orthodox do it. i know albanians do. And they're not necessarily always equal length... that part doesnt really matter. We just do the crosses with candlelight right when we come home from church on easter, meaning after the 12 AM service on Saturday night/the beginning of Sunday.
