christianity

i am an "ex-christian" i guess you could say - raised in lutheran school until 8th grade etc...
but anyway

all i really wanted to say is, I find it really alarming how many people are Christian
i don't really want to offend but if someone could please explain to me why you're christian, i would be interested to know

judaism i get

but christianity is the biggest myth ever perpetrated on society and Peter is the biggest conman in written history

Jesus was not a Christian. His teachings are paramount in my book. He set a fine example of how to live in a physical world of illusion and dead carcasses. If your spirit is living in the present, then you can pay respect to Jesus. Peter was as blind to the spiritual truths for which Jesus spoke of, as the other disciples(exception being Mary Magdalene). Peter went to the bankers to found the church.

Good you've grown to understand. Now, why would you talk pajoratively about a spiritual path that brought you to your current understanding? Hasn't the church been a vehicle to keep the wisdom of Mary and Jesus alive and available? The scholars and priests would like to hold the key to knowledge in safe hiding, away from the common person. Question hierarchies. The kingdom is within you.

first off. are you asking the proTestant christians or the Catholic christians?

because i find both to be a completely different breed. to the pt where i won't even acknowledge the proTestant christians as actual ~believers~.

then i'll answer.

actually, it's judaism i DON'T get. so an explanation for that one would be gr8 too.

I don't find it alarming that people are Christian - after all, it's the official religion of a great many countries. People are born into the religion, no matter how faithful their families are, and morning prayers at school assemblies are just a part of day-to-day life - even if personally one doesn't believe.

What I DO find astonishing is that around 45% of Americans claim to be "born-again Christians". Whether this means they had a lapse and returned to the fold, or just discovered Christ later in life, I do not know.

that ^^ is why i wanted specifications on the definition of "christian".

because a lot of people have bastardized the original teachings of all things of "christianity" & turned it into some kind of rehab religion. "born-again-christians" included.

all the protestant sects don't seem to realize that they're all just schisms off the original pt they're trying to make. & that everything they're taught is just misconceptions translated into more misconceptions. which is how all these "demonoinations" (excuse my puns. i'm actually lolzing at them tbh) get started.

judaism has around six "official" sects.
islam has around the same.
christianity has over fifty.

which one is flawed?

Christianity is made of splinter groups. Blame Luther.
