i know i cannot possibly be the only one here interested in astrology and that sort of thing, so:
this thread is (obviously) for all you girls and boys to discuss astrology in any way shape or form.

oh, and can someone please explain sun, rising sun, etc. to me? i dont get it. | sun is just your normal sign, like the one you'd see in a horoscope or something. rising/ascendant is the sign that was ascending on the eastern horizon at the time of your birth. in addition to your sun sign, your moon sign (which constellation the moon was occupying at your birth) and ascendant also influence your personality to some degree.
i find it extremely interesting that there are physical characteristics that apply to each sign and even further depending on which decante of that sign youre born in. and your ascendant and moon affects this as well. |

I am a cancer... I honestly do not know why we are so emotional.... Sagittarians are great, most of the ones I know seem to be very optimistic and fun. |

| | | cancerians are emotional because cancer is a water sign and also a feminine/negative sign. pisces and scorpio share some qualities in common also being negative water signs but other factors change the way they display their emotions. |

the sun sign is the general ed of your astrological profile. usually it's on point in some way, for whatever reasons it may be. but everyone knows that.
the rising sign is your psyche--or rather, your "social" personality. your initial reaction. your outer self. your behavior & habits & such. in jungian talk, its your "psyche".
the moon sign is the deepest of the signs, & even more vital than the sun sign. its your reflection from deep within. how you really feel about something. in psychology, it'd be your subconscious, or, again, for the jungian chic, your ~soul~. usually people who're really into astrology don't even use their sun sign & prefer to use their moon because its such a stronger connection than the sun.
from there, it gets complicated, because each different sign has a different relationship with its particular sun/moon/rising sign (sun being leo, rising being gemini, and moon being cancer). not to mention the elements & planets each one stand for.
yeah. astrology is one of my many useless talents.

more about the physical appearances of the signs...i don't classically fit the appearance of a scorpio who typically have very dark, thick hair and a sharp nose and a tendency to gain weight. i'm naturally very thin and very fair skinned, thin straight light blonde hair. i do have the intense eyes though, they're really unusual pale blue green and people tell me that they're creepy. probably has something to do w/ pisces moon and being born within the pisces decante of scorpio (nov. 1) |

I think astrology is fascinating but I don't like when people try to base their lives around it. Like when you choose to do something based on astrology. That's not complying with fate, innit. It's astonishing how accurate some of my readings have been, especially personality evaluations. I do find it extraordinary, like midnight said, that people of the same star sign even tend of have similar physical traits. It's something I noticed since I was v young and used to read the mag horoscopes (bs btw) and there'd be pictures of celebrities beside them. All the Taureans seemed to have the same bone structure :-O

& seeing as taurus and leo are both fixed signs, it's a pretty even balance between taurus' "stable" fun nature & leo's avant garde, brassy fun nature.
