Dan Quayle, US VP of semi-legendary dunderheadedness, once fouled up a highly orchestrated school visit by correcting a kid who had spelled "potato". He said there was just one thing missing, the "e" on the end. The kid called him an idiot on national TV and asked "do you have to go to college to be Vice President?"
