I believe this is not because the church supports this, but because gays are conflicted. As they follow a self respecting lifestyle they may understand why and help teach others the path. The church cannot support heterosexual marriage and then turn around and support homosexuality. Marriage has always been looked at as a holy union between a man and a women. This is not to say that gays cannot get into Heaven... they just don't follow the best path to eliminate the internal conflicts which hinder them from inner peace and wholeness.
