There are many who don't. Look at intellectuals who are weak as putty in the hands of a Matrix-orchestrated manipulation, who can understand research papers but cannot fathom that Bush is anything but a blessing.

Then there are simple and practical people who have strength of heart to withstand anything. All intellect does is expand your available choices for growing your potential, but does not guarantee it. Without the heart that even (and most often) practical people have, including those of any language because language is irrelevant to your question, spiritual evolution cannot happen. And it's spiritual evolution that allows you to outgrow the Matrix.

Not forever, no. But until one transcends the hedony one is "condemned" to maintain that state of consciousness and to experience the effects of it in materiality. Not all the effects are known to the 'hedonist' nor recognised as self- caused when they are. There is a point where spirit will not remain consciously manifest in human beings... a vibratory point, below which spirit will not strive with flesh and withdraws. Survey the world and it's inhabitants. There are many spiritless beings maintaining a spiritless construct in many areas of life. They are not the instrument for the works of the spirit. They have gone their own way for so long, ignor- ant of the will of the spiritual Self that the desire of the lower- ego has become the only guide. Hedonism dulls the spiritual senses and tends to divorce one from the knowlege of Self and IT's will. The spiritual Self desires to actively express ITself in our mind and emotions. If these are filled with self- concern in all it's lower forms then there is no room in the inn of being for the christ spirit to be born... to mature and to show what that inner trust really means.
