i have this new age-y type friend and she's always yammering on about her spirit guide but i don't want to inquire with her lest she think i'm a tool. although i kind of think she's the tool, but whatever, i'd still like an answer (what they are, how do you know who they are, how do you find them, what do they do, etc).
