Most catholics believe in evolution -and- creation.
| Yeah pretty much. Although I never heard about creationism in science class at the Catholic school I went to. Hell, I didn't hear the word creationism until years later. The Adam & Eve story was part of religion class and thats were it stayed. |

| | | nothing in the 39 articles about biblical literalism, so anglicans, episcopalians, etc. don't have to be creationists, no matter what the evangelical wings of those churches say
it's just creationists are noisy right now
recently i posted a few quotes about the vatican and astronomy, how they basically believe in the big bang theory of creation, rather than the story in genesis

NO no no They face the congregation.
And the second vatican council just said that Latin mass wasn't mandatory and it was okay to say it in the language of the local people.

firstly, where do dinosaurs fit into the whole equation? like god created the earth, then he created man so when adam and eve left eden, were they living in prehistoric times?
How did mankind become so big and diverse if we are all decendants of 2 people? and is it true that eve had 2 sons? if so, doesn't that make every person on earth incest?
that's all i can think of right now, but more are sure to come to me. | the point of genesis is to be metiphorical....meaning if you really read it you will notice it started with plants then animals then man...its metiphorical for the way that evolution happend...basically explaining how it happend...it has no real context to the fact he was like POOF your man it took time to becaome man .... lol.... the whole insest thing i hav no clue about :S but i dont think that we are all insest thats just my point of veiw . |

| | | Some ideas just cause one to think. Jeshu'a died for an idea which changed the world; he has not died in spirit, nor in vain--we too, can make a difference, one person at any moment in time or place--one simple act of kindness can change the way others see the world, and the way the world sees us.
"The world was changed by an unworthy man with a simple idea: "Love thy neighbor as thy self"."

Being born into Catholicism and raised in the frightening shadows of shame and denial is traumatic enough. Now a whole new generation is about to be subjected to a 'leader' capable of damaging the history, knowledge and psyches of the parents of our grandchildren and our future leaders?
I am so disgusted with organized religion. If anything makes you question the existence of a God... this should.

In fact, my mother remembers most of it by heart. If she doesn't have it in mind she just picks up one of the pew books and reads it out loud like second nature.
