Psychotropic Drugs for Enlightenment

Sure, we've all heard of drugs. Drugs date back centuries as a tool in spiritual ritual. Some even claim Jesus annointed people with a concoction that contained mostly cannabis oil. So we know the spiritual use of drugs is pretty old.

Have you ever used drugs and received some form of enlightenment?

Some people say its a state of mind - to feel one with the Universe. Others claim to reach a state that transcends ego and others claim to come in contact with life in another dimension.

On erowid.org they talk of transcension and how it leads to another world where you feel the unity of all things and how perfect is the creation or life.

They state such experiences, especially repeated exposure to this nature, changes the biochemistry of the brain in many ways. For example, people who meditate were found to have lower levels of brainwave activity in pressure situations compared to normal people.

Personally speaking, I have often achieved a state of inner harmony and feeling of belonging in the world as a result of my experiences in life, perhaps because of the drugs or may be a higher power I connected with during my transcendental states of mind.

I find as I gained enlightenment from such experiences the whole presented to me opened a door to vast knowledge that is impossible to fully comprehend and only admire and respect from a distance lest ye go insane with wisdom.

Such is the glory of creation.

I would appreciate your thoughts and experiences on the subject of psychotropic drugs such as cannabis, mushrooms, cactus, LSD, in relation to spirituality and enlightenment.

If you have taken any ethneogens as a spiritual tool mention your experiences and what you had taken too.

peace

i took a lot of acid in high school for reasons like that. i dont know if ican be specific about what i learned, but yeah, absolutely fascinating. i started cus it was cool and social, but when i started going in a certain direction with it i would usually stay home and do it alone.
once i'd get past the "theres fish swimming in the walls, i must call karyn and warn her" phase, the questions would start. i hear my voice in my head, just like regular inner monologue, and start asking questions about something random. not to drag this on... so yeah. eventually i'd be firing off questions and getting multiple answers back for each just as fast. with little or no effort, i felt i had tapped into that knowledge thats just there. lsd opened me up to the whole big thing, helped me feel small.

the thing i can say i learned most during those times:
1. relativity is everything.
2. jesus is a rolemodel, not a messiah.
3. science is as beautiful as art. i really started seeing math in new ways and things that mattered made sense. god lies in all of those things. we've all got everything at our fingertips, cause all our houses lead to the same, massive backyard. we're all the same thing. and we're all make up what god is.

maybe check out this book called The Cosmic Serpent. All about spiritual use of ayuhuasca, really interesting stuff. long post- eeeee..

only psychotropic drug that i indulge in is marijuana.

i smoke a lot of weed.

of his own art arthur rimbaud once wrote,

the point is to arrive at the unknown by the dissoluteness of all the senses.

william blake wrote,

the road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom.

yes, i believe that it's possible to use drugs as a way to obtain spirtual enlightenment, particularly if you believe that it's possible.

i think that our senses are incredibly limited - using them, we are only able to experience an intensely small fragment of the world around us.

just take a look at the light spectrum and what our eyes are actually able to see.

drugs skew or alter the limited ways in which our senses perceive the world.

now of course that doesn't mean that a hit from a joint with cause one to be able to "see" gamma rays or anything, for example.

but in altering our sense i think that we come to realize that the world is more than what our five senses would lead us to believe.

i'm an atheist.

but i think that people lose "sight" of their place in the universe and the affinity of everything therein.

do i think that drugs can be used to obtain enlightenment?

yes.

they can be used to help us broaden the limited ways in which we see, feel, and think about the world.

drugs are disgusting and morally wrong and you are all going to hell, in my spiritual opinion.

you fucking moral cognoscenti.

how, praytell, are drugs "morally wrong"?

particularly hallucinogenic drugs, the ones most often used for purposes of "enlightenment"?
