only psychotropic drug that i indulge in is marijuana.
i smoke a lot of weed.
of his own art arthur rimbaud once wrote,
the point is to arrive at the unknown by the dissoluteness of all the senses.
william blake wrote,
the road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom.
yes, i believe that it's possible to use drugs as a way to obtain spirtual enlightenment, particularly if you
believe that it's possible.
i think that our senses are incredibly limited - using them, we are only able to experience an intensely small fragment of the world around us.
just take a look at the light spectrum and what our eyes are actually able to
see.
drugs skew or alter the limited ways in which our senses perceive the world.
now of course that doesn't mean that a hit from a joint with cause one to be able to "see" gamma rays or anything, for example.
but in altering our sense i think that we come to realize that the world is more than what our five senses would lead us to believe.
i'm an atheist.
but i think that people lose "sight" of their place in the universe and the affinity of everything therein.
do i think that drugs can be used to obtain enlightenment?
yes.
they can be used to help us broaden the limited ways in which we see, feel, and think about the world.
