What's the difference between denominations?

I feel stupid asking this but I have to know, what is the difference between the many denominations of Christianity? Catholics, Baptists, Lutherans, 7th Day Adventests, Protestants, Methodists,Episcopalians, etc?

They all follow the bible, so what are the dividing elements?
