Do we need them?

During the course of my music education I've had to write about/debate what is and isn't music a good four or five times, and I know there isn't an answer. Is it important to be asking these questions? I mean, I keep coming up with the same non-answer, so it's not giving me food for thought, only reminding me of what the "right" non-answer is.

What do we need?

Where is it all happening?

Who takes the bait?

How do we collectively know it all happening?

Where are the answers?

it's not that there aren't answers, it's that the answers are also opinions, which can only be debated more.

the arts (music, art, history, literature) etc, are not sciences for a reason. they can't be proven, it's part of their appeal.

Humans crave answers by nature. And by having these open for discussion, it provides some sort of satisfaction that since there is no answer, no one can be wrong.

Actually, in these discussions, no-one can be right. Everyone is wrong, and some people are wronger than others.
