| | | Questions where the right answer is "there is no answer" (e.g. "what is art?"): Do we need them?
During the course of my music education I've had to write about/debate what is and isn't music a good four or five times, and I know there isn't an answer. Is it important to be asking these questions? I mean, I keep coming up with the same non-answer, so it's not giving me food for thought, only reminding me of what the "right" non-answer is.
Do me proud, KRsters.

| | | What do we need?
Where is it all happening?
Who takes the bait?
How do we collectively know it all happening?
Where are the answers?

| | | it's not that there aren't answers, it's that the answers are also opinions, which can only be debated more.
the arts (music, art, history, literature) etc, are not sciences for a reason. they can't be proven, it's part of their appeal.

| | | Humans crave answers by nature. And by having these open for discussion, it provides some sort of satisfaction that since there is no answer, no one can be wrong.

| | | Actually, in these discussions, no-one can be right. Everyone is wrong, and some people are wronger than others. |

| | | There's always an answer to those questions. It's just that everyone has a different answer, and none of the answers are provable. They're just opinions. If you had the desire, you could write a book answering any one of those questions. |

Many have, and we're still asking them. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
