| | | Philosophy of happiness This guy once wrote that happiness is a straight line. You get a warm sense of satisfaction if you know which philosopher mentioned that in his book.
But - thinking of that statement
- happiness is a straight line -
what does it really mean?

| | | Simplicity, and acceptance of what's beyond your control?
IE not going around in circles of flailing about in convulted patterns in an attempt to forcefully engineer realities that simply aren't meant to be?
That'd be my initial guess. |

| | | hm, a few years ago I was reading a book on eudaemonism and came across a similar theory. maybe by saying happiness is a straight line, it means when you're essentially happy you're not confused or lost, so you don't stray from how you feel? it's a pretty vague statement, you'll probably get many opinions on it. |

| | | Love is a great source of happiness, but looking for it is probably the worst.
As for the straight line, I guess it's saying that happiness is just when you something works absolutely perfectly.
Personally, in a lame way, I think that happiness comes from writing your own philosophy. |

| | | what is true happiness anyway? I've never experienced it, that's why I ask this. could it be that there is no such thing at all? not trying to be sceptic or anything, just wondering... like it's an reflection of something that looks like happiness, but in reality we won't be able to find it? | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
