| | | Gay / Lesbian scene in Canada Hi, I'm coming to canada in a few months with my girlfriend from Wales, and was wondering what its like over there. I've heard that Vacouver has some great gay clubs, is that right? Also, are Canadians quite accepting of lesbians, only its good to know how affectionate one can be in public without getting snowballed! also, any sugesstions of good bars / clubs? thanks |

| | | it depends on where you are, in toronto , vanocuver or montreal you shouldn't have much trouble at all in the main part of the cities but once you go towards the burbs....be careful.

| | | The West End in Vancouver is known as a gay area. Davie street has lots of gay bars, clubs, restaurants, book stores & places to buy jockstraps, porn, lube, rubbers and leather, assuming you're like me and enjoy those things.
Downtown, Stanley Park and the beaches, Kits, Commericial and most places you'd actually want to visit are fine with gays and lesbians.
I see couples out holding hands, kissing, being affectionate in public all the time. Not a big deal. |

| | | Yes, it's pretty gay here in van. I would imagine that if you lived downtown, most people wouldn't even notice the same sex hand-holding and general public displays that go on.
It's a fairly culturally diverse city, even if it does have it's head up it's ass. |

Toronto's good pretty much all over. I see lesbians holding hands everywhere I go.
If you're a dyke in Toronto I would recommend (haha) Foxhole at the Gladstone, although, it happens once a month - you'll have to look it up. Dyke bars in gayville are: Slack Alice and Crews & Tangos. There's also Goodhandy's which has alot of good and interesting stuff going on. |

| | | There are a few areas in Calgary that are probably alright but people here can sometimes be rednecky...I should ask some peeps I know...there are a lot more gay businesses and clubs that are male oriented. |
