answer the question. i think i asked in another thread, but this one will get more answers i hope/think.

my answer is yes i tend to refrain from telling people in real life because i dont know how theyll react and because of teh stereotypes/cliches that go along with it. its almost as if the women who are really really open about it, i mean walking up to people and announcing it, are the sterotype. they want the attention, or the shock value or confidence boost or whatever.

also, i never ever see an opening in just casual convo to bring it up without sounding like an attention whore/ass.

I've known a LOT of people that don't believe in bisexuality. They think that if you say you are bisexual, it means that you are gay but aren't willing to fully admit it. I don't agree with that sentiment, however. I believe that humans are naturally bisexual to an extent. It all goes back to Gore Vidal. The theory is not my own. But anyway, is that the sort of stereotyping you are referring to? What other cliches do bisexuals have to deal with? I always think of them as really open, sexually liberated individuals.

what ruth said. or you want attention or to turn guys on. or youre going thru a phase (generally thats about younger bi's). or youre being trendy. or youre divorced and sick of men so you want to try women but wont stick with it as youre not gay etc.

i think generally with straights/fags/dykes, their emotionality aligns with their sexuality. and people get glued to the concept that your sexual preference is your emotional preference also.

this is where bisexuals generally get called on their shit, because there's usually one gender that they only want for the fuckings.

and this is where i start laughing at society for having such narrow concepts of what attraction is, and the logic we try to apply to things that ultimately makes them seem illogical.

the whole situation would be much simpler if it was a case of 'smoker or non-smoker' as opposed to 'what is your eye colour?'.

then we wouldn't end up with our silly little stereotypes. that being said, almost every bisexual i've ever conversed with has been driven more by sociopathy than by lust so i tend to treat them like feralized brown dogs anyway.

I want to lose some more weight/get fitter to gain some self-esteem so I can take the crapfest my family could throw. It would be a good thing for me to do anyways, fulfillment of a goal and better health.

I know my aunt will probably freak, she's really religious. My mum is too but she probably wouldn't care as much as my dad, who is supposed to be an open-minded idealist but he's worrisome, somewhat discriminatory, and cannot let anything go.

if someone -- like a couple weeks ago at work -- begins making fun of dykes or kissing the same sex or something stupid, i say "ive done that" or "im bisexual i LOVE kissing girls" sort of to shock them out of their comfort zone and also to tell them its NOT ok to deride different orientations in front of me.

I have never admitted to being bi-sexual or ever acted upon it. I'm completely open about fancying other women but people see it as a joke.
Life is a lot easier being straight and that's why i never talk about it.
