Well, as for the "cool" thing, I was kind of joking.....yeah, kids can be cruel, but most of them grow up eventually. But of course, I'm only speaking of California. Elsewhere, being gay might not be so okay....

I do have two extremely close friends, they are gay and they are lights in my life. I'm 24.


And friends are not enough. Friends are not going to kiss you, they are not going to be intimate with you past a certain level, they are not going to have sex with you, and they are not going to live with you.

If what friends can give you is enough for you to be happy in this lifetime, well I guess you are lucky.

I do not have an active sex/love life right now, and yes, I do know what you're talking about. I guess at this point in my life, it's just not high on my list of priorities. I'm still trying to get myself on track. I imagine anybody who'd want to be involved in a serious relationship with me NOW must be seriously off their rocker. Or someone who wants to use me or "fix" me. I've been in enough relationships to know I'm not ready.

Maybe once I've dealt with some of my baggage, it'll be worth considering. As of now, not so much.

Yeah I think California is a lot bigger and more diverse than where I live. But I mean, at least I don't live in a part of the world where you are literally scared for your life everyday.

Maybe I just don't have the 'right' group of friends. For them, going a few weeks without going on a date or seeing someone or whatever is odd, as in heteroworld these things seem much easier. You go out into the world and at least what 90% are most likely straight. That is a lot better odds.

Well, to be honest, my straight friends and I have sort of grown apart over the years. Most of them have children and are married. Which just grosses me out anyway, but what's worse is we really have very little to talk about. So I kind of know what you mean. Where do you live?

I am sure the proportion of straight people doing this is not that different to the proportion of gay people. Don't fly off the handle hysterically, please.

That's a shame you and your friends don't connect anymore. I suppose having kids is one of those things that can cause a bit of a rift. If you're happy with the friends you've got though, no worries. From my own experience, I don't generally actually like gay people, and I don't like gay culture.

I'm pretty indifferent to it mostly. Sometimes I hate GAY PEOPLE, but that's not the same. That's just me being a cunt. ^_^

This is unfashionable but I love being gay. The culture and history interests me so much, and I've met a lot of interesting people that I wouldn't have met if I was straight.

HCH, dont be so tragic, many straight people these days arent going the marriage and kids route. If it means so much to you, find someone, elope to a place where its legal to marry and adopt a kid or hire a surrogate, where there's a will, there's a way. Its not impossible. Or is this purely on the supposition that gays other than yourself around you, in your locality, are anti all these straight norms, and you feel you are the only one into that schtick??? I guess I'm sort of on the fence, I'm not unhappy that I'm gay and I wouldn't change if given the choice. There is just alot of shit that comes with it that blows.
