| | | Marie Antoinette/Sofia Coppola Thread resurrected This thread needed to be remade after the deletion of everything. Wish I could make it to Paris for the screening at Cannes next month. I've not been so excited for a film in a long time.
The trailer can be seen here and as people have pointed out at the i heart sofia LJ community, the colors are much more vivid and the picture better and bigger than on the apple trailer. http://www.marieantoinette-lefilm.com/
Many new HQ pics...due to the new 4 images per post more will be coming in just a few....
This one with the cakes has to be my favourite |

I wouldn't say interesting. Marie herself was very shallow and just a fun loving girl, it's just that her life and the things she saw were EXTREME. First she lived in extreme wealth, and then nothing, disgrace, and all those horrible things that happened to her in the last few years. Her life was very dramatic. |

| | | I bet i love it when it comes out but in the pics Kirsten just seems off. She really don't seem to have the right look for a period film and i don't know why. |

It would've been good if she had gained a bit of weight but it's ok. |

why is that not interesting?....whats not interesting about the things you've mentioned?.....
anyway this film will probably be praised just like anything sofia does, but i seriously find her over rated. if the film is true to history which i doubt it will be, and dunst doesnt have a fake british accent again...
it should be worhty of about 2 and a half stars |

it should be worhty of about 2 and a half stars | you said she was an interesting woman and I disagree. She wasn't dumb but she wasn't particularly bright either, she wasn't a powerful Queen, she didn't know antyhing about politics, nor did she cared, she wasn't a good person, etc. I love Marie Antoinette, and I don't want to demean her and believe me this is insulting, but she was really an XVIII century celebutante a la Nicole Richie or Paris or something.
I think the beauty to her story is how she dealed with the horrible experiences she had to go through and how she went from being this void barbie doll to this amazing, strong, noble and humble woman. And she was a good mother. I mean she was a rotten person that got "purified" because of those horrible experiences, when you read how she was in the last few years, how noble she was and how she changed, I mean she achieved in personal growth in only 39 years what most people never achieve in a lifetime. Unfortunately it was through those horrible experiences, but to me that's her beauty and what makes her interesting, how she changed, but I wouldn't call herself interesting, her life was intereseting. Maybe you don't see them as separate, I do.
I don't think Sofia is overrated. Her movies might get a little boring but her direction is gorgeous, the importance she places on photography and the look she gives to her films, they are like little gems. |

The juxtaposition of the picutre of Kiki in drag, from 1700's and the 70's/Sex Pistols type of font makes me feel something....different. As if she was a comic book character, like "The Adventures of Marie Antoinette" or something, as if it was a rock band.
I think the title and the picture speak Rock and Roll to me, and very coy sexuality a la Betty Boop. After all her story was very rock and roll, it was love, sex, drugs and money. That was it.
Do you feel me????? do you know what I'm saying?????? or is it all in my head? |
