| The Messengers (new show on TLC)
i watched the first episode of this show on a whim, and i was floored at how good it is.
the premise of the show is that they picked 12 (i think) of the best speakers, writers, and spoken word artists in the US and Canada and they're all entered in this semi-reality TV show on TLC. Each week they are put to the test (in a totally non cheesy or reality TV show way) relating to the topic they must speak about each night.
last week the topic was "charity" and the people on the show had to spend 24 hours on skid row in los angeles. they were pretty unprotected, and the camera's didn't seem to interfere. they had to live and sleep on the street, and talk to homeless people. it was heartbreaking.
and then afterwords they have to make a speech about their experiences and the topic, each week. it's amazing, inspiring, and all around a really good tv show.
this week they're going to live as migrant workers, then speak on the topic of "struggle".
i highly recomend it. it's on TLC on Sundays at 10pm.
