Jackass crew recreates River Phoenix's death as a prank
They usually get laughs for stapling themselves, snorting wasabi and generally suffering pain for fun but a Jackass prank in Darlinghurst this week turned very unfunny when ambulance crews were called to their hoax emergency.
Two crews were rushed to Oxford Street club, Ruby Rabit, in the early hours of yesterday morning after being alerted to a man lying on the pavement receiving CPR from a woman.
They arrived to find it was Jackass prankster BAM MARGERA pretending to have collapsed and having attracted two female fans to give him mouth-to-mouth, all of it being caught on film.
It's understood a passer-by dialled triple-O after seing the 'emergency'. An ambulance service spokeswoman said such hoaxes were not a laughing matter.
"Hoax and nuisance calls represent a severe drain on our resources and cost the community many hundreds of thousands of dollars each year". She said.
After rushing to an 'unknown situation', the ambos realised the prank soon after arriving, with Margera then quickly whisked back to his hotel by management.
Margera's Jackass budies PRESTON LACY and STEVE-O had carried him out of theclub and left him on the pavement apparantly needing medical attention in what was understood to be a "River Phoenix viper room stunt".
The Jackass crew -- minus JOHNNY KNOXVILLE who had retired to his hotel room -- were celebrating WOLFMOTHER frontman Andrew Stockale's 30th birthday at the club after the band's Horden Pavillion gig.
They are filming footage as they follow Wolfmother on their Aussie tour and hed to the Splendour In The Grass festival at Byrn Bay with them this weekend."
