| | | All you Little Mermaid fans Credit ~ http://www.disneydvdmovies.com/cgi-b....cgi?Article=6 The Little Mermaid Goes Platinum on October 3rd, 2006
Disney's 1989 Oscar Winning animated hit, The Little Mermaid, is being given the royal treatment with a 2 Disc Platinum Edition DVD scheduled to be released October 3rd, 2006, almost 7 years after its initial debut on DVD as a featureless Limited Issue DVD.
According to Gordon Ho, executive vice president brand marketing and business development at Buena Vista Home Entertainment, The Little Mermaid is Disney's most requested movie for a DVD release, and it will be backed with a massive marketing campaign, similar to last years Platinum Edition release of Cinderella, which sold more than 6.5 million units and was the 8th best selling DVD of 2005.
Several of the bonus features for the 2 Disc set are still being developed, but you can expect the normal Platinum Edition bonuses, such as deleted scenes, commentaries, and featurettes on the making of the movie. Several musical bonuses are also expected, along with a whole range of licensed products scheduled to hit the store shelves at the same time as the DVD. It looks like 2006 will be the year of The Little Mermaid! |
