Guns in American films

Ever notice how guns = fun in American films?

I was watching 21 Jump street, and it's like, LOL guns. Hey we are talking and then someone gets shot and it's like LOL. There is a scene where they are suiting up to go to the prom and arming themselves with loads of guns and they aren't even bothered.

If it was me, I would be pooping me britches, I dare say.

I remember the first film I really noticed it in. Mr and Mrs Smith. They killed over 100 chaps, and it was all, joke here joke there. THEY WERE KILLING PEOPLE.

I just feel uncomfortable when die and guns are treated with lol's nowadays. Guns scare me.

this doesn't solely relate to guns but while watching the chumscrubber recently one of the characters mentioned that "the average kid sees something like 10,000 dead bodies on TV before he turns 18."

while searching for that quote (to make sure i heard/quoted right) i read this re: TV, "It is estimated that by the time an average child leaves elementary school, he or she will have witnessed 8,000 murders and over 100,000 other acts of violence. By the time that child is 18 years-of-age; he or she will witness 200,000 acts of violence, including 40,000 murders."

that could explain the reason people take it with a lol, they're desensitized by the age of 10.

Have you ever shot a gun, Blackmilk? They are tons of fun, really. Super fun.

Yes, I have shot a gun, handguns on a shooting range in an American gunshop. A day out.

Also shotguns and rifles here in Europe.
