I haven't seen Palindromes but doesn't it say at some point that Heather killed herself? That's what I heard about it anyway. And that it was a sucky film. Well. I'm renting it anyway.

Welcome to the Dollhouse is such a great film. I thought Happiness was really good too. Storytelling was only okay.

i havent seen storytelling, but i seem to remember mixed reviews coming from people who have previously liked todds work. i was wondering if it was worth seeing, and since you seem to have taste, i was going to ask if you recommended it.

oh yeah see it. i thought it was probabyl the best out of all 4. those being happiness, palindromes (bad), welcome to the dollhouse and... story telling.

the thing that wlays gets me about solondz films is that everytime i go see one (which i will have been excited about for MONTHS possibly YEARS where palindromes was concnered) i sit there thinking, why the fUCK was i excited about this? i must be SICK because this is SICk and its only half funny and the rest of me is feeling bad like i am endorsing somthing evil. but i mean sometimes its funny. i didnt find palindromes funny at all except for mumma sunshine which was you know 25% funny.

happiness is funny. i say see that one first. but its also the worst in terms of making you feel bad lke you are endorsing something just beyond evil. but again its funnnnyyyyyyy.

palindromes does have that sinister feel to it.

i remember feeling very uncomfortable in some parts, and im not really the type for that. but, i think all of his films are tainted with that. even welcome to the dollhouse has a bit of that in it. i dont know if its something he purposefully goes for, or if its something thats just contingent with his work.

his humor is his saving grace, though. when its not present (such as in palindromes) youre sort of overwhelmed.

Happiness was a nutty movie. The first time I watched it, I was left sort of in shock. But after seeing it again knowing what to expect, I found it really funny. I like Jane Adams a lot.

i gave my film teach about three almodovar books and in return he gave me this movie - he thought i would like it. i haven't seen it yet - it's just languishing on my sisters old bed where i throw the rest of my junk. but it looks interesting.
