Star Jones Reynolds: 'I Was Fired'

Star Jones Reynolds announced Tuesday morning on The View that she'll be leaving the show in July after nine years as a cohost.

"Something's been on my heart for a little bit, and after much prayer and counsel I feel like this is the right time to tell you that the show is moving in another direction for its tenth season and I will not be returning as cohost next year," she said on the air.

"That's shocking to me," interrupted Joy Behar, prompting Jones Reynolds to link hands with her cohosts.

As for where she'll go next Jones Reynolds said, "I'm not sure what the future holds, but I'm absolutely sure who holds the future."

The show's creator, Barbara Walters, wrapped up the discussion by saying, "It is a new chapter for Star. It will be a new chapter for The View in the fall."

So why is Jones Reynolds leaving? Contrary to speculation that she's unhappy about the upcoming addition of Rosie O'Donnell – one of her most vocal critics – to the show this fall, she reveals exclusively in this week's PEOPLE magazine that the departure was not her choice.

"What you don't know is that my contract was not renewed for the tenth season," she tells PEOPLE. "I feel like I was fired." She adds that she was told her contract wouldn't be renewed just days before news leaked that O'Donnell would be joining The View.

Jones Reynolds, 44, was part of the original lineup with Meredith Vieira (who has already departed to replace Katie Couric on the Today show), Behar and Walters.

I read another interview where Star said "She FEELS like she was fired" ....straight from the horses mouth. Which means, she was pushed out, cause she's a pain in the ass to work with. But not fired. She just knew with Rosie coming aboard, she wouldn't be queen bee bitch. HAHA! She couldn't handle that presure!

Also in this interview, Joy was quoted as saying to Star 'Who will I fight with?' *haha* Star said to her, 'Something tlls me you'll have someone to fight with.'

As we reported in great detail, Star Jones announced her departure from The View yesterday; a move that was widely anticipated.

No one, however, was prepared for Starzilla's tell-all to People magazine, where she blabbed that Barbara Walters fired her by not renewing the former lawyer's contract.

This was a bit of a shock, especially considering that Walters had said publicly that Jones was welcome on The View for as long as she'd like, and she was expected to stay on for at least a few more weeks - until the middle of July.

However, in light of Star's People article, Barbara and ABC have told Jones-Reynold to leave now.

According to a source close to Jones Reynolds (probably her publicist), "ABC has asked her not to return to the View tomorrow morning."

A source close to the show confirmed that Star had been asked not to return.

I think I flipped over to the view during Fifa by chance, I don't ever watch that show, and I watched as she was making that statement. Heh, her head is ODD AS FUCK.

oh shit! That talk show has so many problems. They really do make the female stereotype of being catty and not getting along present.

If they replaced Star with Tracy Morgan dressed up as Star Jones, then I would be a devoted watcher of the View.

Everyone rally around Courtney to get a part time gig on ABC as one of the cohosts on The View. Star Jones announced her departure today now that she has gone as glossy and glam as The Star magazine did. Although I will not miss Stars bibley preaching and double standards (is her husband really gay?) I did like her transformation and made me watch the show again. I think Styar being an ex DA has alot of crediblity and liked her alot. Elisabeth is still there though and sure full time host Rosie and part time cohost Courtney would give her a run for her money. Elisabeth is like a puppet, I think she gets fed stuff thru her earpiece that she really doesnt want to say but has to pander to the conservative republican viewers and younger viewers. Its like she is hooking herself out for Jesus instead of being true to herself and inner beliefs. I love the way Babs, like Larry King is agnostic and Joy is so open minded and loves the way she talks and figets. She is a working mans Bette Midler. Bette will put out a power ballad and a movie every decade and thats about it. Joy Behar really carries that show and sure that if they throw Rosie into the mix its going to make America more enlightened to how we should be evolving (being open minded about things)
Anyways I really hope they have Courtney cohost a few times next season. I think she would do great walking out in a designer outfit waving with cue cards in hand while the theme music is blaring on her way to her seat. I really hope ABC approaches her or we rally around and let ABC and Courtney know if she could do The View as a cohost a few times. I think it would put her in a new realm and even if it only two or three times next season it could lead to something better. Look what happened to Rikki Lake. Lets let ABC know Courtney should guest host The View. BTW why does hole.com take me here?
