| | | The Descent so apparently this movie came out like 2 years ago everywhere else except in the US, and its going to be released soon. I decided to download it because im reading that the US version has been changed and edited DRASTICLY.
but i was very happy with the film. I was scared at parts and watched it again with a friend who said it was pretty good too. It has a lot of 'hills have eyes' 'haute tension' to it, which i guess the first would be a coincidence since it came out first. The camera work is perfect, and really puts you in the cave, with the women trapped. I especially liked that most of the violence was dead on. there were no tricky cut aways, you saw what was happening when it happend.
anyway has anyone else seen it. thoughts comments.
also, if you didnt like it, explain why. dont just say "it wasnt scary what a piece of crap" and leave. this is an actual discussion |

| | It's English thats why it didn't get very far, most English films that make it quite big are good though.
It's alright, lighting very good and often made me jump. The plot and dialog is very poor though, why do they throw in the lame dead-daughter side plot, plus all the non-scary stuff is badly acted. Anyway those small spaces are a very scary scene for a horror, and no natural light!
Don't watch alone in a dark room like i did though |

| | | i thought the daughter worked, but there was too much of it. I think it helped with the idea that she wasn't all together there even from the start, and that the darkness only added to her imbalanced psyche...
but in the end it could've been left out either way.
dialog in a horror movie is never up to par, just because writers dont seem to realize that people dont speak that way when scared or in danger. they try to make it more of a recap for idiots who dont understand whats going on. |

| | | The descent is among only a few films that made me shout out loud (in my defence it wasn't just me, my boyfriend & brother shouted just as loud). Perhaps because the first real scary bit was so unexpected. After 40 minutes of watching some women go caving, i was NOT prepared. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
