flame me for this post, i dont care. no one can say there isnt some truth to it. | Sure there is truth to your post, but I'm not sure the point of PETA is to be taken seriously. |

........ | I'm not sure that they were trying to solve anything, I think perhaps they were just trying to embarrass her. (I really don't know; this is the first I've heard about it). Like you said, she likes fur for whatever horrible reason and to some extent, people like her can't be persuaded because they don't have any sympathy for animals, so I guess the best PETA thought they could do was make her look stupid? Obviously, they don't care if they look stupid, so why not drag her along with them? |

flame me for this post, i dont care. no one can say there isnt some truth to it. | I get the 5th grade thing. But I also know that some of the videos posted on PETA's Web site scare the shit out of me, which I suppose is the intent. If 5th grade machanations will prevent a company from hurting an animal, I guess that's what they feel they have to do.
But what purpose does throwing flour on Paris Hilton serve? I have no clue.

| | | I guess this is a quick and easy way to get publicity, which can only be positive for the organisation. We here all know what PETA is already, but I guess there may be some people out there who do not. It'll certainly grab the attention of those who care about animals but failed to notice the organisation before now. It serves its purpose and their goals entirely.
They went about it in the wrong way, in my opinion. I don't agree much with the idea that they sort of pinched the opportunity for a fan to meet her. If this fan meeting went well, she might have considered doing more for charity in the same way. Now she's clearly going to be hesitant.
I'm not convinced Beyonce is about to change her mind about using fur after that. Asking her why she does it was obviously going to be fruitless. This is a star who probably doesn't say anything in public without the guidance of a manager/publicist or even her mother (and that's evident from how she let her mother do all the talking). What might have been a better strategy would be to explain to her where the animals come from and the inhumane ways their skins are obtained, rather than to press her for an answer she doesn't have prepared and likely has never even considered. That way, she might have taken in the point of the whole scenario, and perhaps even considered no longer using fur, rather than being left with the impression that she's been deceived for the sake of publicity. But that's just a minor point.
I have a "don't call me, I'll call you" attitude to pressure groups like these. I've never been particularly open to having that sort of thing pushed on me, which is why I have this dislike for their tactics in getting into the press. This was one of their slightly more respectable tactics (deception aside). Chucking flour over celebrities just completely astounds me in its juvenileness. It reminds me of the person who squirted Tom Cruise (amongst others) with water from a microphone; funny, but utterly pointless.

| | | PETA come from a good place but their tactics are fucking lame. I like that they've made a difference and I hate that the media label animal rights groups as "terrorists". They shouldn't be playing up to it though, it is definitely not a positive thing.
I like organisations like the Humane Society and WSPA much better and would much rather support them. |

| | Haha, its funny when famous people get picked on like this. I saw this website www.hilaryduffiscruel.com and its wayy dramatic but so funny. They pick on famous people so its get publicity so people keep them in mind or watever. I dont like some of the ways they try to address their points though. |

But to be honest, throwing flour on Paris Hilton sounds fun to me, regardless of her beliefs about animals or anything else. I'm not saying I'd do it, I'm just saying of all the things in the world that might outrage me, this is pretty low on the list. In fact the thought of it kind of makes me laugh, as does the image of tom cruise being squirted with water. |

call it a hunch.
