| | | An Inconvenient Truth Im suprized I couldnt find a Fourm about this!!!
This is an insanly good movie and it really does scare the crap out of you. Its not playing at many theathers but if its near you go see it its AMAZING!!!!!
Gore is an amazing speaker and for a movie that is just one Gore talking the whole time but he has amazing talent for speaking...He makes it seem like he talking startight to you and no one else, he doesnt get boring and not once did I feel like he was dragging on.
If you don't believe in Gobal Warming go see it every doubt I had was dismissed. He not only has great facts but pictures and visuals. Its not complicated or "dumbed down" to make you feel stupid.
Al Gore does an amazing job!!!
If he runs in 2008 he should win he would do lots of good for the US and for the world!!! www.climatecrisis.net |

| | | i have trouble taking 'documentaries' like this seriously, especially when they're so centered around politicians or any certainly biased figures speaking on any given subject. granted i have not seen the entire film, only clips, but it seems to me just like easily digestible propoganda made for the masses, like a pro-gore/greenparty advertisement. i wouldnt be so against seeing a film on global warming if it didnt reek so much of politics.... |

| | 'i'm al gore. i'm not dead. i only appear that way'. haha.
so he can act?
yeah, this is emotionally directed propoganda. sorry. whether i believe in a cause or not, i geniunely could. still, i'm aghast that somthing like this can be called a documentary. its a bit disturbing because these kinds of films are becoming a trend. its like an hour and a half long ad for politicians that want to further their careers. (and yeah i consider michael moore a politician. 100% ). no politician is in it for the good of humanity. that would be an oxymoron. they can tell me till they are blue in the face, frothing at the mouth, with steam coming out of their ears. not a single one of them really gives a shit about what they say.
not to cause any controversy or anything just my humble opinion. |

Its not thou....It has a hint of politics but as he says in the film this is not an issue over politics this is a moral issue. It doesn’t matter if your president supports the Kyoto Accord you can do something about it. The thing is we make this to be a political. When securing the planet for our children and grandchildren shouldn’t be handled by people in Washington, Ottawa, London, or any other capital. You should secure it by doing very simple things.
And yah it is propaganda cause its promoting a cause...Its not false or has an unbiased opinion...when Gore came to these conclusions he was not in politics as the movie states and was not being paid by environmentalists. He was simply a student listening to a university professor talk about his research. Gore uses an excellent quote.
"It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his job depends on not understanding it."
Upton Sinclair
And my all time favorite
"The era of procrastination, of half-measures, of soothing and baffling expedients, of delays, is coming to its close. In its place we are entering a period of consequences."
Winston Churchill
I think the Winston Churchill quote is great because it shows how we really think and no matter what we as humans have such a hard time looking into the future. We are a society of Short term gain for long term pain. The worlds not going to change for us. We ourselves need to do something.
And the Upton Sinclair Quote is perfect. We need to realize that. And start to try to make research as "double blind" as possible just like drug testing. If I'm paying you ,you probably are going to find what I want you to find....As I said Double blind research...The people putting money in don’t know who the researcher is...and the researcher doesn’t know who put the money in. |

| | | I don't care where you stand politically...
But if you pay to look at Al Gore for like two hours, then.. wow. You'd be better off just like mailing the money to me.
They could've picked a more appealing person to do this.

| | | Guys, just answer me this:
Is it an easy documentary to follow? Or is it like a typical Al Gore lecture? |

It's playing at the artfag theater up the street from the library I work at, but I can't go. Lousy job.

it's a passion of his, he's been giving lectures on global warming for a long time
in 1992 he wrote earth in the balance: ecology and the human spirit
he led the clinton administration's efforts to address the problem of global warming and other environmental concerns
politics aside, i think that everyone needs to see this movie
it's important
i don't think there's really an excuse that's good enough for not going to see it
sure, you could go to the library and do research yourself on global warming - but how many people are actually gonna do that?
not too many
a movie is an insanely accessible medium in our fat-assed lazy-brained age
it's a comprehensive collection of pertinent facts, presented in a way to, yes - shock people
many facts about global warming have been known for years, and yet the situation is only getting worse
we need to be "shocked", to wake up, to force the government to take this issue seriously
i applaud al gore for what he's doing
and i strongly recommend this film http://www.climatecrisis.net/ |
