| The Woman in Black (2012)
The latter half of this was really quite scary and nearly justifies the slow pacing of the first half. Radcliffe is convincing in a relatively mature role and since majority of the film is him walking around a haunted house, looking spooked, it's a good thing to see he can jump out of his franchise role of Harry Potter. The Woman in Black is a good sign of things to come for this actor.
The Grey (2012)
Since Liam is on a roll with damaged daddy roles, I was expecting a high octane action flick like Taken but apparently this is supposed to be a contemplative man vs. nature movie survival film. It is that but it's also very long. Add to that some gore brought on by hungry flesh eating wolves. Anyway, there are entertaining bits and Liam, good actor that he is, is game for anything.
My Week With Marilyn (2011)
Michelle Williams gives a delightful performance despite her lacking the quality that was so obviously in Marilyn Monroe. It's not just the physical attributes, it's that twinkle in her eyes, it's something spiritual. That said, the film is involving. Branagh is equally impressive as the veteran actor who encounters some problems while directing and acting alongside the biggest moviestar in the world. The story is actually quite slight and minor. It doesn't have a scope that Monroe deserves. It's entertaining and at times, moving but I wish it delved deeper.
