I also went to see Drive.
I thought Ryan gosling was excellent - really intense. I loved how it went from really quiet and subdued to incredibly violent very quickly. I really enjoyed the soundtrack.
What I did not enjoy was the guy a couple of seats away munching really ****ing loudly on his popcorn. Like, it echoed through the ****ing cinema.

I now want to buy driving gloves.

So far at the NYFF I've seen:

Carnage
Miss Bala
A Dangerous Method
Melancholia

They were all excellent honestly. Melancholia did reign supreme; I'd consider it to be one of my favorite films. When you get the chance please see it in theatres. The ending will not have the same affect anywhere else. I was physically shaking when it was over.

I loved it very much...
I thought it couldn't be any more perfect.

I'm surprised you would hate it especially if you saw it on a large screen. The way the music swelled... I've never felt anything like that before.
