I liked it, but it was hard not to be cynical. Some of the movie's quirks were pretty hoary and old by the time it came out. I just wonder if Haneke was determined to make the most archetypal arty European film ever. Though of course it was nothing if not interesting. Check list of all the usual things; sexual repression cutting loose, ice maiden, power games, long uncomfortable silences, icy natural light, classical music...

i dunno. i loved it as isabelle pushed the envelope more and more, escalating from smelling semen wipes to molesting her own mother and finally, the weird **** she did at the end for no apparent reason. artsy, yes. fartsy, maybe. but good little movie.

I'd rather she started something with one of the other people waiting to audition. I thought he might look good naked. Not that the film went there. Harrumph.
