| | | I quite liked it. I wasn't blown away or anything but seeing it done in the 21st century was interesting. I personally wasn't expecting any real changes because of its purpose (to open on june 6th and make money). I wasn't crazy impressed but i wasn't let down either.

| | | all of my friends have come back disappointed and then i ask them this simple question
"did you see the original?"
no.
fuckin idiots.
the original is an aquired taste, and since this is the same screenplay, just with more modern visuals, not everyone is going to get why its so great |

| | | The lines were huge at the theatre yesterday and people would laugh when the kid would give "the look" ...that so ruined it. Although I did jump when the crazy lady popped up outa nowhere! that lady was scary! |

| | | i liked it.
i thought they made some subtle changes that improved it- i was pleased that damien's mother had a slightly larger role, and i thought her death scene was much better than in the original. i also thought the scene in the zoo was better done in this remake.
the bit with the nanny, however, was slightly worse.
all the actors were excellent, although i didn't find damien as good as in the original.
another thing that was an improvement was that you got a better sense of how powerful damien's 'father' is in this version. in the original, although they say he's an ambassador, it didn't really give the impression of how important that is. |

Without that spontaneuosly played throughout the original, it would not have been so scary to me. I can't quote it, because it is inaudible, and may not even be english. It's a Gregorian chant. But it sounds like
"many moons" it's called Ave Satani.
The mother (Lee Remick) makes the scariest face when she's in the hospital and the nanny gets in her room!! This isn't from that scene, but it's similar:
As for the remake, I haven't seen it. I want to, but remakes disappoint me 100% of the time. Unless I hear more great things, I just may put gas in my car instead! |

Plus the Damien was creepier in the first one. |
