Jackie Earle Haley has been named as the guy playing Fred Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street remake which is scheduled for release in 2010. The remake is apparently going to be in the same vein as what Rob Zombie did to Halloween... a complete re-imagining. Samuel Bayer who has directed music for videos for artists like The Cranberries, Garbage, Marilyn Manson and Green Day will direct the remake.

He looks scary. But part of the appeal of Robert Englund was his voice.

I totally agree about Robert Englund's voice. I really hope they go back to dark Fred. I hated funny Freddy.
