First off, if Amanda is coming back they'll have to fuck around undoing that faked her own death shit.
Plus, she didn't even own Melrose Place at that point, so they'll have to come up with some reason for her to get it back.
More importantly, Sydney and Kimberly's deaths will have never happened.
Enough time will have passed that Billy, Alison, Jane & Matt have all moved (who cares where, so long as they don't come back) but that Jake and Jo have remained.
The rest of the residents can all be new people. Maybe one of them can be a doctor who Michael Mancini wants to fuck, so he can be involved to.
Kimberly isn't actually essential. Her bullshit was getting tired by the end of season four anyway.
Sydney vs. Amanda never gets old though.
Hopefully they'll reign Sydney in a little bit. During seasons 4 and 5 they started making her too quirky. She had that Aunt Jackie syndrome, where suddenly a formerly semi-wacky character is acting like a retard.
And for the new people, I hope they go early 20's. Part of my problem with all the replacement characters who came in post-season four was that they were too fucking old. It worked better when Amanda was the older woman, amongst a bunch of young people. Taylor and Lexi were both her age. Coop had to have been 50. Megan was Alison, except instead of being a drunk she was a hooker.
And they need to have Amanda fucking 24 year olds. If they don't turn her into TV's foremost cougar, there's no point even having a new Melrose Place.
