| | I was just gonna say was this from Empire or something
Really typical.
Out of all the shitty sci-fi shows they don't even have Stargate SG1 on there.
FAIL. |

| | They also have Lost as the 5th best show ever. That's LOST. You know? That thing you watched 5 episodes of and gave up on because it was like some kind of Enid Blyton-meets-Tolkein piece of crap, and then you heard they'd thrown in some weird sci-fi angle and you were like, "you know what, I don't care"?
I'd say it's the 5th biggest letdown ever, but that's not what this list is about
I was pretty surprised when I found out that SG-1 made it past two series. Really, it's not bad or anything, but I couldn't really see the point of it. Farscape was better, by a country mile.

| | I really wanted to get into LOST too, but it pissed me off and I couldn't care less if any of the characters died or not, wich is the worst thing a show could inspire a viewer. |

| | | My dad loves it, I bought him both the DVDs, he barely watches them, and now Amazon thinks I want to buy everything that people who like the show like, which mostly seems to be books about Nazis.
Lost seems to do everything that makes a TV show shit all at once in every single episode. I don't know if it tricks dumb people into thinking that they're watching something intelligent and artsy (just because they don't get what's going on most of the time), but I'd be interested to see how far up the list it is when the show finally ends.
Stuff that should've been on there (mostly UK stuff, but all of it better than Lost) :
The Mole
Big Brother (like, the first few series, when it was bearable)
Later With Jools Holland
Fresh Prince Of Bel Air
The Good Life
The Day Today
Brasseye

| | In theory it should have been brilliant....but no.
CSI is better than half the shit on there and its only 33.
Peep Show should be in there next to the Office, and I like Coupling. |

| | | Actually, the more I think about this, the more I think that, I dunno, maybe the News should be on there? A lot of the most watched shows ever aren't on there, and I'm not buying any "just because it's popular doesn't mean it's good argument" because I saw their Top 500 movies and clearly they weren't applying the same logic there.
Coupling was good, but I can see why it wouldn't be on there because Friends kind of cancels it out. Same goes for Yes Minister and The West Wing. Peep Show ought to be on there but a lot of Americans don't get it, at all. That's kind of why I was surprised to see Spaced on there. Also, no Queer As Folk? I mean, I personally don't rate it but I thought everyone else did.

Farscape had a better hitrate than Star Trek, and struck a better balance between standalone stories and arcplot development than DS9. It was one of the few genuinely well-written shows of its type that I can remember, purely for having something approaching believable dialogue.
Another whine: no Twilight Zone?

Or maybe I'm romanticising it and if I saw it now I'd say its crap. |
