| | | Survivors (UK TV) Did anyone else watch this?
I was pretty impressed, they seemed to have really done a good job of updating the original (which for some reason I've seen, despite not being born when it was broadcast) without losing the spirit of it. I mean, fingers crossed, because it could just as easily go the way of Lost, but still, I'm happy that there's finally something new on TV that I give a shit about.

| | | do you remember the last train? because it really reminds me of that. Good quality cast using some underated actors, paterson joseph and max beesley in particular. too early to call but it looks like it could be good.

| | | Well, The Last Train borrowed heavily from the original Survivors (for those who don't know, this is a remake of a 70s series). The main thing that worries me about this is kind of what happened with TLT - that they'll set up an interesting premise that could run for years, but then have some kind of resolution at the end of the series. TLT (and Lost) could've gone on a lot longer without having to really be about anything IMO.

I like how they revealed a tiny bit at the end with SPOILER scientists.

| | | Yeah, I dunno, the scientist thing is what I'm worried about. It's what made me worry that they were going to build up to something flashy and sexy and far less interesting than the actual premise of the show. But if nothing else, there seems to be a commitment to make it convincing and not to deviate too much from the original, and to update it subtly without changing the nature of the show.

im normally suspect of remakes despite also not being alive for the original, but i do wonder is this new show a remake of the old show or is it going to follow the plot of the book?
there is this survivors website that used to (dont know if it still does) go on tours of the locations for all 3 series, i really wanted to go and be a mega geek but i never
im waiting for a day of the triffids remake ha ha

| | | I have been thinking for a while that it's about time someone did some really classy adaptations of John Wyndham's books stuff.
Didn't know there was a book of Survivors. I'm guessing this thing's based on the TV series - from the nonononofuckofffuckofffuckoffturnitoffturnitoff!!! ! spoiler trailer at the end of the first installment, it looks like they're replicating a lot of the images from the original series.

| | | the book is by terry nation, i seriously suggest hunting down a copy if yr a fan, because the ending is SO good it makes you chuck stuff at the telly when you see how series 2 and 3 fucked up big time back in the 70's (i think terry had some drama with the bbc so stopped helping after the first series)
im quite looking forward to watching the new show now

| | | Hmmm, that's interesting. Not sure whether I want to know how it ends in advance (I don't remember much of the specifics of the 70s series, would only have been a sprog when I saw it).

| | | i just finished season one of the original survivors. my husband downloaded it a couple weeks ago, and we have been watching a couple episodes a night. i love it.
ive read what i can about it and terry did have a big row with the producers and he quit/was fired and i do want to read the book, but ill do that when i finish season two and three. then i plan on seeing the remake.
carolyn seymour who played abby has an interview up on the survivors website and she was booted, too when terry was. i dont know how this was fixe3d because she was the damned lynchpin of the show.
so the remake is good yeah? how big is this in the UK? no one here has ever heard of it.

do you think that greg made some horrendously stupid mistakes? i mean, so stupid that they seemed like plot drivers rather than things people would do? like the tom thing, for one, and also when the scout comes looking for their petrol, he's just invited in and told everything about the place basically.greg irritates me.
and bless tom price.
steven king has a character in The Stand named Tom, too. Tom Collins. M-O-O-N that spells Tom! I'm sure he lifted that character from this series. Steven is geek enough to have seen this show despite being american.

hahaha you wait. If greg irritates you now i wouldnt watch the other series, as without abby its all greg being stupid and greggy and MEAN to jenny
The only redeeming episode is when they go back to visit london. I felt hurt that i put so much love ( )into this show and it turned so rubbish when it had the potential to do so well.
such is life!
tom is my favourite character! (apart from that barney episode)
its really refreshing to talk about survivors with people who arent my dad haha

NO. just say NO to tom price. i haaaaaaate that guy. he drives me mad. i want to throw things at thim. i meant BARNEY!
when greg made the decision about barney. that episoide was where it turned for me and greg, and also cinched it for tom price. he never deserved to live one month with that group. he was manhandling that poor girl and trying to get sexual favors even before they started the group and he betrayed abby before that even. thats one of the things that made me so mad, why in the world would people have him as part of the community? he was lazy shiftless and aggressive when he felt he could get away with it.
how can you say <3 tom price?

| | | It's not until you see a 70s show remade in the 00s that you notice that actually yeah, holy shit, TV used to basically be really fucking Caucasian, didn't it.
