As I was going someone told me it was "very Bourne-ish" and I totally see that now.
Overall not the best film I've ever seen, but for a Bond film I thought it was pretty good. |

| | | I wasn't really that taken with it.
I really, really loved Casino Royale, much to my surprise, as I was opposed to DC as Bond. I think he's fantastic, and I did like Quantum of Solace, but it didn't do much for me, really. I was a bit bored by the storyline, although it looked great, and the acting was bang on.
I really like the new Bond direction - the lack of gadgets, the grit, but I actually felt the villain in this one was pretty weak. I knowthery're going more realistic, and I do like that, but their last guy cried blood, y'know? THAT was a Bond villain.
I also felt there wasn't enough of a focus on Vesper in this one. I don't know... I liked it, but I guess I'd just hoped for more. Its political/environmental thing actually made it feel a bit more like a Clooney action-film-with-social-conscience kind of vehicle, when I wanted it to be a bit more Bond.
That said, I'll probably see it again, and I'm still willing to say Daniel Craig is my second favourite Bond... To be honest, I think he's my favourite, but I'm not sure two films are enough to justify that. I'll give him one more film before I make that an out-and-proud declaration...

Its like they kept having to go back and convince you the bad guy was actually bad, rather than just adding to his glorious evilness. Which doesn't work as well with bond.
And what was with the "other" bond girl? Shes an official big part in the publicity and yet you blink and miss her. I know thats pretty standard for a lot of bond girls but still rather annoying. Just because she was Tess Of The D'Ubervilles or summing? |

| | | Olga is working her butt off. Obviously I haven't seen the movie yet but I have heard she is out for revenge just as Bond is. An entertainment show talked to the directors and producers about Olga. They said they were looking for something like a female version of Bond and she fit the mold. |

But yeah, I guess having her billed initially as "the new Bond girl" was a bit misleading. She's the equivalent of that guy's wife who wears the pink dress and dies in Casino Royale in temrs of Bond girl significance.

I saw this and realized the movie's been out for a while, and I still haven't seen it. It's disappointing to hear that the villain is not so great. I mean then what's the point of making a Bond movie. |

| | | hmm, the villian's not got such a massive part, or such a dominating presence maybe, but he's kinda hot? i had an interesting dream about him anyway.

| | | i thoroughly enjoyed it but wish i had rewatched CR before i went as there were some continuing story lines etc
i thought it was good, the girl's back was distracting and i wish they had brought up the story of it earlier because i knew there was going to be one and that distracted me
i want my hair cut like the hot redhead

Did I already post about that?

| | | hmm, well he's pretty damn good, but there's always the thing of the Connery being the original and whatnot...
