| | | Gomorrah So I've heard this is one of the best films released this year. It's a styilised mob film set in naples... and it's all true! or sort of anyway as the guy that wrote the book has to have an army of bodyguards with him all the time now.
Has anyone seen it? I haven't been to the cinema in ages but this sounds rather good.

| | | I was kind of wondering what would happen to the people involved in making the film!
It's quite serious. It's not one of those slick, glamourous films about organised crime, you don't watch it to get a vicarious thrill - but you do get involved with the stories as they come together.
It's good, but I went to see it by myself and it left me feeling a bit bleak. I would recommend seeing it with someone you can drink with afterwards! |

| | | if you could compare it to a film, even just in it's tone or style rather than content what would you say?

| | | I would compare it to Lilya-4-Ever on the basis of how it made me feel - perhaps not quite as traumatised, but kind of horrified that this is really happening, and is so inextricably connected with everyday, "normal" life. (I don't mean to imply that Gomorrah is about prostitution - you don't actually see a lot of that.)
It's not really that similar in style or tone, I suppose. It's less sentimental and not "about" any one character.
I've heard it compared to City of God, which I haven't seen, but that might be informative. |

I found it very boring
It's pointlessly long and it shows the same things over and over again
I'd recommend you to rent it instead of going to the cinema |

| | | i thought it was interesting, my friend who i saw it with thought there were rather a lot of storylines to keep track of.
The music - especially at the end, was really good.
