I'd never heard of this film before about a week ago and I'm a pretty big fan of Scorsese!
I must say I really, really enjoyed this film! It was incredibly funny. I read up on it and saw Tim Burton was slated to direct this film, which I don't think would have been nearly as good. Scorsese manages to get across this really awkward feeling throughout the film and it works absoluely brilliantly.
the movie is a masterpiece. extremely underrated. shame.

I absolutely love this film to bits. It's my favourite black comedy ever, and my favourite Scorsese ever, and I recommend it to everyone I can. I may even have started a thread once? It's brilliant. And I love that it's not for everyone, and that a lot of the people I recommend it to don't get it and are kind of "urgh". Dicks. Makes me feel leeter, because I know they're wrong and I'm right.

ive seen this movie about ten thousand times. love it. that scene dancing to "is that all there is" cinched it for me. one of the best.

I love this movie. It's so weird and cool and all the actors are great.
I think of this movie whenever I think of paper mache. I've been working on a paper mache sculpture for the last year that I'm very frustrated with.
...OR bagels and cream cheese.
I used this movie as my film class project because the cross-cutting and technical stuff in it was so excellent. Plus, ya gotta love all of the Aqua Net Extra Super Hold that Teri Garr had stacked up in her bathroom.
What other films try to show that sort of cool mid-80s Manhattan? Off the top of my head, late at night, I can think of Desperately Seeking Susan. What else is there?

American Psycho was not quite the same thing, and made too far after the fact, but there's a germ of a similarity. But I need more. It just seemed so cool.
